JUNIOR PRODUCTION The Lord of the Flies By William Golding THE PLOT A group of schoolboys are stranded in a plane crash on a tropical island, without any adults. There are “littluns”, boys around the age of 6 and “bigguns” who are between the ages of 10 and 12. In order to survive they attempt to form a community based on what they know of the adult world. Some become the rulers while others are ruled. The elected leader is Ralph with the support of Piggy. A major challenge to Ralph’s leadership is Jack. Jack commands a group of choirboys turned hunters who sacrifice a wild pig. A conflict between Jack and Ralph develops over the leadership, which causes a split in the group. The behaviour turns savage and Jack’s hunters roam the island in search of the mythical beast. Soon the hunt turns into a man-hunt to track down and kill Ralph. A passing ship sees the smoke from their fire and a British naval officer arrives just in time to save Ralph from certain death at the hands of the schoolboys turned savages. To be involved: Attend the first session on Monday 18th January, at the Kings Head Ballroom where all rehearsals will take place from 5-7pm, to register and take part in auditions.
